Eric Smith

My parents moved to Raleigh when my sister was 4 and I was 2, from Charlotte NC. The year was 1954. I grew up in the Coley Forest sub-division off Ridge Road when it was first developed. I attended Frances Lacy grammar school, Martin Middle school and graduated from Broughton High school in 1970. I then went to Sandhills Community College.

I started my building career as an apprentice doing bridge work and form setting for commercial foundation walls around Raleigh and Pittsboro. I soon realized that I wasn’t satisfied with commercial construction and followed my dream to build houses. I started in 1976 building apartments as a framing carpenter and was soon running my own crew.

In 1979 I meet the love of my life Theresa. We bought a house in the Five Points area. I established my own company Eric W. Smith Builder that same year specializing in framing and exterior trim. We soon grew to a small company having four crews and 14 employees. I got my General Contractors License in 1981 and did my first new home construction. Things were good and we started our family. Our first child, Erica was born in 1981 and Curtis was born in 1983. Our company grew and prospered during this time. To continue developing my skills as a home builder I went to work for a prominent local builder in Raleigh as a superintendent. For the next three years I built numerous pre-sale and spec homes in his exclusive North Raleigh subdivisions, winning two consecutive awards in the Raleigh Parade of Homes.

Yearning to go back to my own company I started doing repair and remodeling work as a way of building capital. I was soon doing what I love again, major remodeling, additions and new homes around Raleigh and Cary as Eric W. Smith Builder Inc.

Curtis, after graduating from East Carolina University with a degree in Construction Management brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to our company. Theresa with her administrative, customer relations and product selection skills makes our company one of the best in the field. With a continued commitment to education, technology, methods and products in the residential housing industry, I have been able to achieve my life long dream of building top notch houses, additions and remodels with quality craftsmanship, care, and happy homeowners!  
   

Theresa Smith

Theresa has 12 years of experience in construction industry financial management. She has also had the opportunity to help Eric Smith Builders for five (5) years with finance, customer service, and product selections. With education in residential appraisal and active in real estate sales, Theresa can help you answer many important questions that help shape the goals for your home.
   

Mark Fish

Mark is the company’s go to guy. With 25 years, a wealth of experience and knowledge he is the problem solver who helps makes sure every job moves through the construction process as smoothly as possible. He along with all members of the company is there for you after the project and through out our warranty process. Mark is also the Pied Piper of pets helping even the 4 legged members of your family have a stress free experience.

   

Curtis Smith

Our newest addition is Curtis W. Smith. After finishing a degree in Construction Management at East Carolina University, Curtis joined the family company in hopes to develop the company and continue learning about the residential construction industry. He has recently sat for and, passed the exam for his building contractor’s license qualifying him for commercial as well as residential projects. Curtis has also had eight (8) years of experience being a carpenter working with his father.
